https://www.curezone.org/forums/fm.asp?i=1527380#i_Caffeine is an intensely addictive substance, and the painful effects of caffeine withdrawal can include headache, fatigue, muscle pain and nausea. Caffeine addictions can usually be broken in a week....
_Caffeine is a natural stimulant that constricts the blood vessels in the brain. Caffeine withdrawal headaches are caused by a sudden swelling of the blood vessels, and may develop into a severe migraine. Caffeine withdrawal headaches can occur just a few hours after the last caffeine intake. After a week without caffeine, these headaches, as well as the other withdrawal symptoms, should subside. Pain relievers often contain caffeine, so they may provide temporary relief, but they may cause other adverse side effects and can interfere with your attempt to cut caffeine. [Here are 4 natural remedies.]
_1. Gradual Decrease With Ginseng
_It is often beneficial for people to quit caffeine gradually. This can lessen the caffeine withdrawal symptoms and make the transition to a caffeine-free life much easier. Start by monitoring your daily caffeine intake and then consciously decrease it by a set amount each day. If you are a coffee or soda drinker, try switching to green tea, which has a much lower caffeine content.
_As you gradually decrease caffeine consumption, try adding ginseng to your coffee or taking ginseng supplements. Caffeine naturally constricts the blood vessels, and ginseng naturally opens the blood vessels. Caffeine headaches are caused by swollen blood vessels, so ginseng is not a good natural remedy for caffeine withdrawal once a headache has started, but it can be used as a preventative method to help the vessels from being shocked when the constricting substance is removed from the system.
_2. Magnesium
_One of the natural remedies for caffeine withdrawal that is gaining attention is magnesium. Caffeine depletes the body's natural supply of magnesium, and many people find instant relief from caffeine withdrawal symptoms by taking magnesium supplements. In order to properly process magnesium, the body also needs a certain level of calcium, so it's best to choose a supplement that contains both minerals. Consuming foods that are high in magnesium may also provide some relief from caffeine withdrawal symptoms. Foods high in magnesium include almonds, artichokes, black beans, buckwheat flour, cashews and spinach.
_3. Right Nostril Breathing
_A recent study by Svyasa University tested the physiological effects of traditional yogic breathing techniques. One of these, right nostril breathing, may be used as a natural remedy for caffeine withdrawal. Right nostril breathing is done by gently pinching the left nostril closed and breathing only through the right nostril for several minutes. The study found that right-nostril breathing produced an increase in oxygen levels in the body, an increase in blood pressure and an increase in blood glucose levels. Essentially, this type of breathing acts as a natural stimulant and mimics the effects of caffeine in your system. It causes the blood vessels in the brain to constrict, which can balance the swollen vessels, providing a natural remedy for caffeine withdrawal headaches. Caffeine withdrawal symptoms may also result from a decrease in blood sugar, and right nostril breathing can balance that as well by increasing the body's blood sugar. The study claims that left nostril breathing had the exact opposite effects, lowering blood pressure and blood sugar, so be sure to use only right-nostril breathing as a caffeine withdrawal natural cure.
_Please note that since right nostril breathing increases the blood pressure, anyone who is hypertensive or prone to high blood pressure should not attempt this method. If you experience any pain or shortness of breath during right nostril breathing, please find a different caffeine withdrawal remedy.
_4. Homeopathic Herbs
_There are a number of homeopathic herbs that can serve as caffeine withdrawal natural cures. I recommend a mixture called "Caffeine Free" made by Liddell Laboratories. It is a liquid and you place drops under the tongue. It contains a combination of herbs that soothe nerves, relieve anxiety and ease mood swings. Most homeopathic caffeine withdrawal remedies contain small amounts of caffeine; enough to ease your headache, but not enough to compromise your addiction. They function in the same way as traditional pain relief medicines, but are all-natural. Homeopathic caffeine withdrawal remedies should be used only according to the directions and for short periods of time. Most people report instant relief when using this type of caffeine withdrawal remedy. Check the Homeopathy section of Whole Foods or your local natural foods store for homeopathic herbs to relieve caffeine withdrawal.

_Anti-cancer Formula
Most of these herbs can be ordered from a health food store as powders.
3 parts Chaparral -- 2 parts Pau d' arco -- 2 parts Red clover blossom
2 parts Jiaogulan -- 2 parts Andrographis -- 2 parts Turmeric
2 parts Amla berry -- 2 parts Nettle leaf -- 2 parts Dulse
1 part Myrrh -- 1 part Licorice root -- 1 part Poke root -- 1 part Juniper berry
_These are powerful herbs against cancer. All of these herbs should be blended together thoroughly to make the formula. The recommended dosage is 1/2 teaspoon taken 3 times daily on an empty stomach a minimum of 30 minutes before eating a meal. The formula can be mixed in a small amount of unsweetened cinnamon applesauce (or blended banana) to make it more palatable. Avoid taking poke root in greater amounts than this, because of possible toxicity.
_Reduce sugar & carbs to improve immune system & to reduce malignancy.
_Substitute organic meats, fish, seafood in place of non- organic meats having antibiotics & hormones.
_Substitute non-homogenized milk in place of homogenized milk, containing hormones & formaldehyde.
_Avoid aspartame in Equal, Nutrasweet etc, because of methanol & formaldehyde.
_Avoid peanuts, because of aflatoxins.
_Eat mostly vegetables, especially in the cabbage family, because of anti-tumor effects.
_[Cabbage family vegs and others, like spinach, should be cooked to decompose goitrogens, oxalic acid etc.]
_Eat seeds, because of antiviral protease inhibitors. [Most cancers are caused by viruses.]
_Drink plenty of spring water, or add organic minerals to drinking water, or drink rooibos red tea, because it aids immune system & is low in tannin.
_Various mushrooms have shown strong antitumor properties including maitake, shiitake, reishi, oyster, agaricus, black fungus, enoki, artist's conk & especially turkey tails & chagas.
_Suma is another good herb to use.
_Recommended minerals with meals are:
50mg zinc once daily
200mcg selenium 3 times daily
40mg organic germanium (Bis betacarboxyethylgermanium sesquioxide) 3 times daily
_For vitamins take:
1,000mg vitamin C with bioflavonoids 3 times daily with meals
(Amla berry is the preferred source of vitamin C)
_Ozone therapy is the most effective, and one of the safest, therapies for cancer. Only minute concentrations can be used internally, and it must be produced with pure oxygen for internal use. In addition it is recommended that only cold corona ozone generators be used for internal use, and never a hot corona or ultraviolet (UV) unit. Hot corona and UV units are okay for external use only. Some units sold as cold corona units are actually hot corona, so it is important to learn how to tell the difference and to buy from a reputable company.
_The most common triggers for malignancies are microbes, especially viruses. Other common causes of malignancies include chemotherapy drugs, radiation exposure including radiation therapy, and hormones, especially xenoestrogens (herbicides, pesticides, some plastics, dioxins from paper mills, etc.) and estrogen replacement therapy. Many of the so-called oncogenes (cancer genes) have actually been discovered to be of viral, not human, origin. By inserting their DNA into healthy cells the viruses change the chemistry of the cell, and stimulate the overproduction of cellular division hormones.
_Cancer patients should eliminate sugars from their diets as much as possible. Sugars suppress white blood cell activity and elevated blood sugar can promote malignant growth. [Conventional] meats and dairy should be avoided because of hormones and antibiotics in these products and because of the formaldehyde found in homogenized milk. Aspartame (Equal, Nutrasweet) should be avoided because aspartame breaks down quickly under body heat and other heat sources releasing highly toxic methanol. Methanol then metabolizes into formic acid, an organ irritant, and strongly carcinogenic formaldehyde. Peanuts should be avoided since they tend to contain high levels of aflatoxins produced from a fungus known as Aspergillus niger. Aflatoxins are well known for causing liver malignancies in immunosuppressed people.
_The diet should consist primarily of vegetables, especially those in the cabbage family, which contain antitumor compounds. Seeds are also beneficial because they contain antiviral protease inhibitors.
_I recommend drinking plenty of spring water, not distilled or reverse osmosis (RO) water. Distilled and RO water are very solvent and therefore can pull beneficial minerals from the body. If you are going to use distilled or RO water I recommend adding trace mineral drops or silica to the water first so it loses some of its solvency. Spring water is less solvent and provides beneficial minerals. As an alternative to water I recommend rooibos (red tea, honey bush), which is rich in an immune stimulating compound similar to superoxide dismutase. Rooibos is also low in tannins and therefore will not interfere with the absorption of medications, herbs or nutrients like green tea and other high tannin sources can.
_Many herbs have antitumor effects through different mechanisms.
_Chaparral prevents the cellular division of malignant cells, and is a strong antiviral, antibacterial and antifungal agent. Chaparral boosts the immune system by raising vitamin C levels in the adrenal glands and is the strongest natural antioxidant known.
_Pau d' arco (lapacho, ipe roxo, tabuei, taheebo) is another excellent anticancer, antiviral, antibacterial, and antifungal herb, though it is more suited for leukemias and lymphomas. Combining chaparral and pau d' arco together increases the antiviral effect of the pau d' arco.
_Myrrh kills viruses, bacteria, and fungi. Myrrh also stimulates white blood cell activity due to the polysaccharides in the herb and blocks the spread of malignant cells by blocking the enzyme hyaluronidase.
_Poke root is another very important herb for the treatment of cancer, though it should be used with caution since it can be toxic. Poke root contains a protein called PAF (poke activating factor) that is structurally similar to interferon. Though unlike interferons PAF is not tissue specific. In other words interferons only work for the same tissues they were derived from, which is why interferon therapy rarely works. Since PAF is not tissue specific it will have an interferon-like effect on all tissues. I like to combine amla berries with the poke root for a synergistic effect.
_Amla berry is rich in stable vitamin C. Vitamin C supports the immune system through the adrenal glands and the thymus gland. Vitamin C is also required for the activation of white blood cells. Amla destroys viruses, bacteria, and fungi, all of which have been linked to the formation of cancers. The synergy between amla and poke occurs because amla increases the levels of an enzyme, known as superoxide dismutase (SOD) about 80%. SOD responds to the presence of interferons, or in this case PAF, by producing hydrogen peroxide, which activates white blood cells including natural killer (NK) cells that destroy detectable malignant cells and destroys some oncogenic microbes.
_Nettle leaves remove lactate from the body so it is not converted back in to glucose through the Cori cycle.
_Juniper berries contain an insulin-like compound that lowers the blood sugar. Therefore both nettle leaves and juniper berries help to starve the cancer cells.
_Various mushrooms have shown strong antitumor properties including maitake, shiitake, reishi, oyster, agaricus, black fungus, enoki, and artist's conk. My personal favorites are the mushrooms turkey tails and chagas. Turkey tails contain two separate polysaccharides, polysaccharides K and P that stimulate white blood cell activity. Turkey tails contain the highest level of organic germanium of all the mushrooms. Organic germanium helps the cells to utilize oxygen and been demonstrated to be highly antitumor. Chagas are not well known, but in my opinion this black conk mushroom has the strongest antitumor properties of all the mushrooms. Chagas not only contain immune stimulating polysaccharides, but also contains high levels of betulinic acid, another compound shown to have extremely high antiviral and antitumor activity.
_Suma is the highest herbal source of organic germanium. Suma also supports immunity through the adrenal glands.
_Several other herbs that are not well known, thought that have shown strong antitumor activity, are andrographis and jiaogulan. I also highly recommend turmeric, which has been shown to stop cancer growth through various mechanisms.
_Recommended minerals are 50mg zinc daily, 200mcg selenium three times daily, and 40mg organic germanium three times daily all with meals. When using germanium make sure that it is organic germanium (Bis betacarboxyethylgermanium sesquioxide), and not elemental germanium or germanium dioxide, both of which are highly toxic to the kidneys.
_For supplemental vitamins I recommend 1,000mg of vitamin C with bioflavonoids 3 times daily with meals. Amla berry is the preferred source of vitamin C since the vitamin C in amla is stabilized by the polyphenols in the berries, and it is 12 times stronger than synthetic vitamin C. Most of the vitamin C on the market is synthesized from sugar, and is not very stable and therefore breaks down fairly quickly [even before you buy it].
_Ozone therapy is the most effective, and one of the safest, therapies I have found for cancer. Ozone works through several mechanisms:
_Direct destruction of malignant cells from peroxide overload. Unlike healthy cells cancerous tumors lack the antioxidant enzymes (catalase, peroxidases and superoxide dismutase) needed to break down peroxides. Since malignant cells cannot break down peroxides the high levels of hydrogen and lipid peroxides produced during ozone therapy swell the malignant cells until they burst apart. Healthy cells use their antioxidant enzymes to break these peroxides down in to water and oxygen and therefore are not harmed by therapeutic levels of ozone. In one German study malignant tumors directly injected with ozone were completely destroyed within 5 minutes with no damage to surrounding healthy tissues.
_Destruction of malignancy forming microbes, xenoestrogens and many other carcinogens.
_Removal of lactate.
Stimulation of the immune system by increasing levels of interferons, interleukins, tumor necrosis factor (TNF), peroxides and superoxide dismutase. All of these stimulate white blood cell activity helping to support proper immunity.
_For further information I recommend reading The Use of Ozone in Medicine (highly technical, written for doctors), or Oxygen Healing Therapies. Ozone can be harmful if administered improperly. Only minute concentrations can be used internally, and it must be produced with pure oxygen for internal use. In addition it is recommended that only cold corona ozone generators be used for internal use, and never a hot corona or ultraviolet (UV) unit. Hot corona and UV units are for external use only. I have seen some units being sold as cold corona units that were actually hot corona, so it is important to learn how to tell the difference and to buy from a reputable company.
_Cancer is an uncontrolled division of cells with specific genetic changes making them malignant. There are conditions where cells can develop uncontrolled growth without malignant changes such as benign tumors and psoriasis.
_A common myth is that everyone has malignant cells. Though as stated above not all cellular overgrowths are malignant. If it were true that everyone had malignant cells then we would all be in serious trouble since the immune system has an extremely difficult time detecting and destroying malignant cells.
_Another common myth is that malignant cells can survive in the absence of oxygen. In reality, malignant cells are highly reliant on oxygen for survival and die in the absence of oxygen. In fact, both healthy cells and malignant cells rely on both anaerobic glycolysis and oxidative phosphorylation for energy production. The main difference here is that malignant cells have a very irregular vascular development reducing their utilization of oxygen by oxidative phosphorylation somewhat.
_It was long believed that malignant cells were completely anaerobic and that they produced lactic acid as a byproduct of fermentation. These hypotheses have since been disproven. As pointed out previously malignant cells rely on oxygen for survival. And in the process of energy production they produce the non-acidic salt of lactic acid known as lactate. The extracellular acidity of malignant tumors comes from the acidic protons exported by cancer cells to protect themselves from the acidity that would kill them.
_The most common triggers for malignancies are microbes, especially viruses. Bacterial and fungal-based malignancies are less common. Other common causes of malignancies include carcinogens including chemotherapy drugs, radiation exposure including radiation therapy, and hormones, especially xenoestrogens (herbicides, pesticides, some plastics, dioxins from paper mills, etc.) and estrogen replacement therapy. Parasitical infections may cause some cancers though these forms of cancer are extremely rare. Human genetics are believed to play a role in the development of some cancers, though the evidence for this hypothesis is very weak. Many of the so-called oncogenes (cancer genes) have actually been discovered to be of viral, not human, origin. By inserting their DNA in to healthy cells the viruses change the chemistry of the cell, and stimulate the overproduction of cellular division hormones.

_Oxygen and cancer myth
-
http://www.curezone.org/forums/am.asp?i=1450582_Depends a lot on the cancer, and where it is located. Deep, or inaccessible tumors can be treated with IV or IA injections, autohemotherapy, or rectal insufflation. Brain tumors respond very well to ear insufflation. Tumors that are superficial or otherwise directly accessible by a needle can be directly injected, but all injections require a glass, not plastic, syringe. Areas can also be bagged or ozonated water drunk. Drinking ozonated water is especially good for mouth, throat and stomach cancers combined with other methods. Areas damaged due to fungus secondary to the cancer, such as is commonly seen in basal cell carcinoma can be applied directly to the area by blowing the ozone on the area.
_Actually not that difficult to reverse the bone marrow failure in myelodysplastic syndrome from chemotherapy. My favorite herb for this is suma. I have seen it increase counts very quick despite still being on bone marrow damaging chemotherapy drugs. Another great choice is ___astragalus, which is also a great immune supporting herb. Both herbs also support adrenal function. Adding ___trimethylglycine (TMG) can also help since methylation helps with DNA repair.
- Another way ___olive leaf helps to fight cancer is through its antiviral activity/. Keeping in mind that most cancers have been linked to viral infections. Long before olive leaf became popular in the AIDS community to fight HIV, also a cancer virus, olive leaf's primary use was as a sedative, meaning it could also help with things such as high blood pressure as well. The AIDS community then discovered that olive leaf was also a source of natural protease inhibitors that inactivated viruses like HIV, formerly known as human T-cell leukemia/lymphoma virus type 3 (HTLV-3). A few years later olive leaf started being promoted for many other conditions such as various infections.
- I think ___andrographis is much stronger than olive leaf. I would not take it with the andrographis due to the high tannin content of olive leaf.
- Technically cancer viruses are transmissible. For example, HPV viruses can be spread by contact or sexua| intercourse. Hepatitis viruses can be spread through several means as well. And the HIV virus is believed to be spread through various means including mosquito and bedbugs, which have been shown to carry the virus. HIV is actually a leukemia/lymphoma virus, which is interesting since the first leukemia virus, from chickens, was found to be airborne transmitted. But transmission does not mean chronic infection, nor the production of cancer. These require sufficiently suppressed immune systems to allow the viruses to take hold and cause problems such as cancer. Same principle as how you can be around someone with a cold or flu and not develop that cold or flu yourself. Viruses require immune suppression to take hold in a person's body.

__CANCER
https://www.curezone.org/forums/am.asp?i=1757129_Cancer viruses have nothing to do with oxygen levels. Without going in to a long explanation the cancer viruses basically increase the level of cellular division hormones. When the level of these hormones exceed the level of inhibitors the cells grow out of control. Again this is a very basic explanation, but has been verified by studies conducted primarily in Europe.

http://medcapsules.com/forum/showthread.php?tid_3107A: [I'm] on a high-dose progesterone birth control and began having gut issues (mostly IBS-D type). also during this time period, took an antibiotic for a UTI. Started having loads of seemingly unrelated symptoms.
2. Was told by doc that I was pre-diabetic. Began eating low carb.
3. Started taking probiotics
4. Began having SIBO/lactic acidosis symptoms, but did not recognize them as such
5. Was given an antibiotic for an unrelated condition. This stopped the lactic acidosis symptoms, but gave me thrush and eventually, intestinal candida overgrowth
6. After trying many treatments, eventually found that high-dose biotin controlled the candida overgrowth. Began being constipated.
7. Took high-dose probiotics again, which helped the constipation, but eventually led me back to SIBO/lactic acidosis symptoms (this time around I figured out the unifying cause to all the seemingly unrelated symptoms).
8. Am taking antibiotics, but they are not stopping the lactic acidosis issues to the point where I can eat anything more than very low carb. Still taking high-dose biotin, because every time I try to wean off of it I have horrendous histamine/allergy type issues: hives, itching, itchy eyes, sniffles, you name it.
>>JS: simply generating lactic acid should not be causing all these problems as the body has various means to deal with acidity. Respiration is the primary means. Bicarbonate and excretion of hydrogen ions through the kidneys are the secondary means of acid reduction. There are other lesser means of acid removal as well, which is why it is so hard to develop acidosis. Although it can happen for several reasons such as the excess consumption of acids. The acids from the lactic acid forming bacteria should have been buffered or eliminated if everything was working properly, which leads me to believe that one of your other acid buffering/elimination systems is impaired. I am curious if you have had your kidney function tested recently? Antibiotic use can lead to kidney damage/failure, which in turn can contribute to acidosis by inhibiting the renal excretion of hydrogen ions.
__Candida
The trick to getting Candida under control is to get the immune system back in control. A good start to this is with ___probiotics, like kefir, and ___prebiotics, such as rice bran and FOS. ___Yucca root (Yucca schidegra) is another good choice as it helps to kill the yeast while making a more suitable terrain for the growth of the flora.
- Stress also adversely affects the immune system, which again helps Candida to thrive.
- There are many aspects to the immune system, but a couple of primary areas to focus on are the flora and the adrenal glands. To address the adrenals vitamin C is the most important. The B vitamin ___pantothenic acid is the second most important nutrient for the adrenals. ___Adaptogenic herbs are excellent for building up the adrenal glands. These include ___schisandra berries, jiaogulan, licorice root, suma, ashwagandha, Siberian ginseng, and astragalus. As you build up the adrenals you will also find that dealing with stress will become easier as the adrenals release more anti-stress hormones.
- ___Zinc is also essential for proper immune function and suppresses Candida. Recommended dose is 50mg once daily, or 25mg twice daily, with meals to prevent nausea. It does displace copper in high doses. Even though we tend to get plenty of copper from our food and water some people advise taking extra copper. Some companies do make a combined 50mg zinc with 2 mg copper. Or you can get a separate 2mg copper capsule and take one a day.
- Maintaining proper stomach acidity is essential as acid kills yeast and alkalinity is its friend. Stomach acid naturally declines with age making Candida overgrowth of the digestive system very common. The zinc I mentioned will help in the production of stomach acid. ___B vitamins (B6, B12, folate) are also essential for the production of stomach acid. Foods high in B vitamins, such as ___rice bran or oat bran are recommended or a B complex twice daily with meals.
- The problem is that these nutrients are also acid dependent for absorption. So the declining stomach acid actually interferes with the absorption of the nutrients needed to produce it. To get around this it is a very good idea to take something ___acidic with your meals for a while to enhance absorption. These can be non-buffered vitamin C (ascorbic acid), ___citric acid, malic acid, apple cider vinegar, or betaine HCl.
- In addition I recommend ___trimethylglycine (TMG), derived from beet leaves, 3 times daily, which among other things will boost the immune system and help the body to generate the digestive secretions it requires.
- The flora is another area to focus on. Probiotic bacteria produce lactic, acetic, and fatty acids that keep Candida under control. You can jump start their numbers with ___probiotic supplements like ___kefir. I recommend a glass first thing in the morning and a glass at night before bed. Follow with a little water to wash the acids off your teeth and to help dilute the stomach acid to help the bacteria to survive.
- Even with this there are only a limited number of the thousands of beneficial strains of bacteria that inhabit the intestines. Therefore, prebiotics are also recommended. Prebiotics are the foods that feed the flora so they can grown and thrive. Excellent choices include the fibers ___rice bran, ___oat bran and ___fructooligosaccharides (FOS).
- I also mentioned ___yucca root earlier. This herb cuts down on the fermentation caused by the Candida, and kills Candida. It also holds moisture in the intestines making a more suitable environment for the flora.
- Avoid anything that alkalizes the stomach acid. This includes antacids, acid blockers, and alkaline waters. Stomach acid is one of the body's first line defenses against pathogens. Neutralizing it is just asking for problems.
- The Candida diet is over hyped. There are several reasons for this.
- First is the fact that most of the sugar in our diets gets absorbed long before it reaches the colon where most of the Candida resides.
- Even though traces of glucose will reach the colon the growth of Candida albicans is still regulated not by the sugar present but rather the pH. A normal acidic pH turns off the Candida growth gene.
- It is virtually impossible to eliminate sugar from the diet since sugar is present in plants as well as meats. But let's say that someone could eliminate sugar from their diet. The body would simply generate glucose from other sources such as glycogen, proteins, fats and lactate.
- Therefore, to fight Candida I still feel that the most important thing that can be done is to re-establish the flora to restore the proper pH, which in turn keeps the Candida under control.
- Keep in mind that most people can eat sugars without causing Candida overgrowth. So there is obviously more to the equation than simply the presence of sugar. And the biggest remaining factor to this equation is the pH.
- Cutting out caffeine is a good idea regardless since the caffeine has various adverse effects on the body such as weakening adrenal function leading to a variety of health issues.
- But again, most anything we eat is going to have some simple sugars and/or can be broken down or converted in to simple sugars. A lot of people don't stop to think for example that even meats contain sugars. Think about it this way. If you eat a steak that steak is full of blood, which was carrying glucose to the cells. And there is the unused glucose in the cells from when the cells stop functioning. So there really is no avoiding sugar.
- I would not advocate a junk food diet for someone with candidiasis, but that is mainly because it does not support the flora nor immunity either. And consuming large amounts of sugar increase the likelihood that more unabsorbed sugar reaches the colon. On the other hand though as I pointed out the Candida diet is not really going to eliminate sugar. So the best way to control the Candida is to make the terrain inhospitable to Candida growth.
- A lack of stomach acid is much more likely to cause a reaction to a food. The reason being that the proteins in the food are not going to be broken down properly leading to the improperly digested proteins acting as immune antigens.
- I don't think there is any one diet for everyone and people's dietary needs can change in life. For example I use to race triathlons and do cross country bicycling. When I was doing that I was consuming an average of 10,000 calories a day with almost exclusively carbohydrates. I know that sounds like a lot but if you saw my daily training schedule it was definitely more than enough to burn it off. I am 6' 2" and I weighed 150 pounds. If I tried to eat like that now I would probably weigh 800 pounds. Back then though I also found that I could not eat much in the way of meat. Every time I tried my energy levels would bottom out in a few days. As soon as I went back to the high carb diet my energy would return to normal. Now my diet is more varied since I do not race anymore or do cross country. I still do not eat much in the way of meat, which works well for me. But I know some people who feel much better with more meat in their diet. And then there are the metabolic differences such as a person with diabetes cannot eat like a higher carbohydrate diet that some do well on.
- So there is no single one diet fits all. All these books on specialized diets are simply sales gimmicks in my opinion. People need to find what works for them.
- Killing the Candida may help in some cases such as thrush. Although, there is still the issue of how someone chooses to kill the Candida. For example, one method I have seen is the use of the digestive enzymes cellulase and hemicellulase to digest the Candida cell walls. On the surface this sounds plausible and I have read a lot of people fall for this. But they are not hearing or taking in to account the entire story.
- Fist problem with the use of these enzymes is that cellulose and hemicellulose are both composed of repeating glucose units. Therefore, as these enzymes break down the cellulose and hemicellulose they produce glucose that turn around and feed the surviving Candida.
- The second problem is that the the insoluble fibers that help feed the flora also consist of cellulose and hemicellulose. As the cellulase and hemicellulase enzymes digest these fibers they destroy the fibers needed for the flora to ferment in order to produce the acids needed to control the Candida. In addition, there is the same problem of the breakdown of the cellulose and hemicellulose leading to increased glucose being present to feed the Candida.
- There are some herbs that can help kill off Candida without feeding the Candida such as ___yucca root (Yucca schidegra) and ___turmeric powders.
- But the main focus still should be on restoring the ___flora since this is the body's main means of controlling Candida.
- Alkalinity promotes Candida overgrowth
- There is a very persistent myth that Candida albicans cannot survive a high (alkaline) pH. The fact is that C. albicans can survive very acid to extremely alkaline pH. The primary difference is the form it takes on dependent on the pH. At a low (acidic) pH C. albicans remains in a less pathogenic yeast form, and its growth is inhibited. When C. albicans is exposed to a high (alkaline) pH it promotes the formation of its hyphal growth. This hyphal growth allows C. albicans to not only become pathogenic, but also to allow it to invade deep in to tissues and to promote organ damage. This hyphal growth is inhibited at an acidic pH of 4 or below reducing tissue invasion and damage. I have compiled some research from non-commercial sites to prove these facts. The growth of C. albicans in an alkaline environment, as well as an acidic environment in a pH range of 2 to 10:

http://www.springerlink.com/content/06crgmq4x3nj2820/- "In vitro, C. albicans can thrive over a remarkably wide range of extracellular pH, at pH values of 2-10 (Odds 1988)". They also point out that alkalinity promotes hyphal growth of C. albicans.
-
http://www.springerlink.com/content/j5v6h012235h3576/- "Upon response to environmental stimuli C. albicans can switch between yeast-like and filamentous, hyphal growth. This allows C. albicans to generate niche specific responses, form biofilms, adhere, and invade epithelial tissues. "
- It is this switch to the hyphal growth, from alkalinity, that allows C. albicans to become pathogenic by more readily invading tissues:

-
http://www.cell.com/current-biology/abstract/S0960-9822(06) 00252-1
- Hyphal growth has been shown to be inhibited at the acidic pH of 4 in all strains of C. albicans showing that an acidic pH helps to prevent C. albicans from being pathogenic. An alkaline pH on the other hand promotes pathogenesis of C. albicans as it promotes hyphal growth. The article from the following link points out what I have been trying to explain to people for decades. Stomach acid helps to control pathogen growth, including Candida. The same applies to the skin, which is normally slightly on the acidic side. When the pH is raised to the alkaline side candidiasis of the skin is promoted.
-
http://www.pubmedcentral.nih.gov/articlerender.fcgi? artid_1770313
- "In tissue samples from mucosal surfaces with a non-acidic pH, such as the tongue, oesophagus, intestine, and most skin areas, filamentous forms of C albicans predominated, and most of them exhibited both 1H4 immunostaining and an invasive phenotype (fig 3A ). In internal organs having a non-acidic pH (liver, lung, heart, and thyroid) from patients with systemic candidiasis, variable numbers of yeast cells were found, together with hyphae or pseudohyphae in virtually all cases. In these tissues, both yeast and filamentous forms showed strong 1H4 immunoreactivity (fig 3B , C). In contrast, in those tissues with an acidic pH, such as the stomach and collecting ducts of the kidney, the predominant form of C albicans was the blastospore (yeast). Interestingly, in these locations yeast cells essentially showed no 1H4 immunoreactivity (fig 3D , E). However, when adjacent tissue invasion was present, hyphae or pseudohyphae were the predominant form."
- "The ability to undergo transition from the yeast to the hyphal form appears to be crucial in the pathogenesis of invasive candidiasis. 4– 6 Both yeast cells and hyphae are found in infected tissues and contribute to pathogenesis. Yeast cells are better suited for rapid haematogenous dissemination, but together with hyphal elements they are also capable of breaching epithelial and endothelial barriers to cause extensive organ damage. 4 During the infectious process, yeast cells and hyphae may encounter different microenvironments within the host. At acidic pH, C albicans grows mostly in the yeast form; at an alkaline pH, it grows primarily in the filamentous form. 2, 6, 7 Gastric acid provides an effective barrier to most microorganisms (normal gastric pH values are 1–3.5). In contrast, achlorhydria and the use of H2 antagonists, which raise gastric pH, have been found to be associated with a higher proportion of invasive gastric candidiasis. 17 Similarly, although the skin is relatively inhospitable to fungal growth, 18 the experimental increase of skin surface pH yields more pronounced cutaneous candidiasis in human volunteers. 19"
- As I have pointed out numerous times women in particular get yeast infections after antibiotic therapy because of the shift in vaginal pH to the alkaline side. The normal pH of the **** is slightly acid, which helps to prevent Candida overgrowth as well as other pathogens. This is because most pathogens cannot survive an acidic environment. The acidity comes from beneficial Lactobacillus bacteria (flora) that produce lactic, acetic and fatty acids. When a woman takes antibiotics the flora are destroyed and the acids not being produced in sufficient quantities to maintain the proper acidic pH. When the pH is shifted to the alkaline side as I pointed out in my earlier post the Candida converts from a mild yeast form in to a more virulent and pathogenic form. Thus the Candida overgrowth.
- More evidence that acids control Candida:
http://www.arltma.com/CandidaNews.htm- "Acidity and candida. Yeast thrives in an alkaline environment. Gastric hydrochloric acid deficiency is widespread and allows yeast to survive passage through the stomach. The colon and **** should be slightly acid, which would discourage yeast growth. However, in many people they are alkaline due to improper bowel flora, enzyme deficiencies and diets high in fruit and other carbohydrates."
-
http://www.drlwilson.com/articles/candida.htm- "Slow metabolism, deficient acid in the stomach, an over-alkaline intestinal tract and copper imbalance allow candida to flourish in the body. Weak adrenals, improper bowel flora, diets high in sugar and taking antibiotics, antacids, birth control pills and steroid hormones contribute to candida infection."
- More from the above site:
"CAUSES - SLOW METABOLISM
- In their order of importance, causes include slow metabolism, copper imbalance, alkaline intestines and tissues, medications, high carbohydrate diets and other toxins. Most people with candida are slow metabolizers. While their cells are more acidic, their intercellular spaces are too alkaline. Their bodies do not generate enough acid end products of metabolism such as lactic acid. Calcium, an alkaline-forming element, also builds up adding to the alkalinity. Candida thrives in an alkaline environment and becomes able to invade tissues and cause serious illness.
- Slow metabolizers are also often deficient in hydrochloric acid. Stomach acid normally kills candida. This is one reason ___acidophilus, an acid-forming organism, often helps alleviate candida."
- "Antibiotic overuse ranks high as a cause for candida. Acidophilus and other friendly yeasts help maintain an acidic intestinal environment. Antibiotics often kill acidophilus. E. coli and other bacteria replace the friendly organisms and produce an alkaline environment in which candida thrives."
- "Antacids and other drugs that reduce acid may worsen candida by creating a deficiency of stomach acid. Ulcers and heartburn are often due to wheat allergy or factors other than excess stomach acid. Antacid drugs include Prilosec, Prevacid, Zantac, Pepcid, Tagamet, Mylanta, Malox, Gaviscon, Riopan, Rolaids, Tums, Nexium and others. Birth control pills and steroid drugs such as cortisone or prednisone also contribute to candida."

__CANDIDIASIS
Candidiasis can manifest as vaginal yeast infections, thrush, excessive intestinal bloating, etc. These are some of the better indicators since many of the symptoms frequently associated with Candidiasis on many websites either have nothing to do with Candida overgrowth or can also be attributed to a number of other things.

The company is conducting research on cardiovascular inflammation in collaboration with the Institute of Food Research in Norwich, U.K. Cardiovascular inflammation is a highly serious condition, as it plays a role in all stages of atherothrombosis. Research has shown this to be the underlying cause of approximately 80 percent of all sudden cardiac death cases. Provexis has identified isothiocyanates contained in certain cruciferous vegetables such as broccoli, mustard seeds and watercress have a positive effect on heart health.
__CARPAL TUNNEL
https://www.curezone.org/forums/fm.asp?i=1466802#i_Plant irons are not a problem, not absorbed very well. Heme iron from meats is the one to worry about. And excess iron can be chelated out of the body with ___phytates from grains.
- For borderline hypothyroidism, ___nettle and ___ashwagandha are both good.
- Carpal tunnel is an overuse injury. Type 2 diabetes results from a ___chromium deficiency leading to a closing of the insulin receptors. ___Nettle is good for both conditions.
- Cayenne is also in the nightshade family. ___Schisandra berry has a lot of saponins, which enhance the effects of other herbs by increasing their absorption. This would be a much better choice in effectiveness and you can avoid the nightshade. I think that ___cayenne helps by acting as an irritant, which causes the capillaries to dilate, which in turn increases absorption. I still prefer saponins for this purpose since they are not irritants and they offer so many other benefits. But the cayenne is still fine as long as you are not nightshade sensitive.
- Some plants, including some adaptogens, are rich in polysaccharides. These are not good to take with autoimmune conditions as they stimulate white blood cell activity. This can speed up the rate of tissue destruction. ___Ashwagandha though does not fall in to this category, so I think they are confusing the plant with something else. It is safe to take with Hashimoto's thyroidosis. Ashwagandha is frequently used to treat ulcers.
- There are plenty of non-stimulatory adaptogens such as ___astragalus, ___Chinese licorice root, ___ashwagandha, etc. that will not overstimulate the adrenals.
- I actually buy my herbs from raw material suppliers and wholesalers. Starwest has good quality herbs:
http://www.starwest-botanicals.com . The wild crafted I really prefer over "organic". Organic is pretty much an overpriced rip off. You are really only paying for the name. Organic items are still often irrigated with surface water, which is going to be contaminated. They have higher bacterial and fungal counts. And if they are farm raised they are not as stressed by nature, so they do not develop as high of levels of phytochemicals. Wild crafted herbs are watered from rain and snow, which is cleaner. And they have lower microbial counts due to their higher levels of phytochemicals. So I ALWAYS go with wild crafted whenever possible.

__CELLULITE
_Cellulite is caused from a breakdown of the underlying connective tissue of the skin. This causes splits in the connective tissue and the fat pushes through causing the dimpling. Silica will help as well as vitamin C (natural sources). Quitting the smoking and coffee will also help as these deplete the vitamin C by putting more stress on the adrenals. Gotu kola helps to promote conenctive tissue formation, so it can also help with cellulite.

http://l00k.createaforum.com/h/health-2-truth-in-medicine/__D: CHOLESTEROL MYTH
_What is high cholesterol?
_Well, there is really no definitive answer to this as this would imply a danger from a certain excessive level. Problem is that there is no real evidence that high cholesterol harms the body.
_Doesn’t high cholesterol lead to heart disease?
_Again, there is no real evidence that it does. This myth stems from a 1940s rabbit study where rabbits, which have different chemistry than humans were fed excessive levels of cholesterol, which is not a normal rabbit diet. The rabbits developed atherosclerotic plaques and the cholesterol causes heart disease myth was born. As I wrote in an earlier post that is like force feeding a horse steak and when the horse dies from this abnormal diet claiming that eating steak will kill a human just as fast. This is called extremely poor and manipulated science.
_Cholesterol is found throughout the body, and is part of cell membranes and myelin. Therefore, we would not exist without it. Cholesterol is also essential for the formation of various hormones, vitamin D, and aids in the healing process.
_What is the role of cholesterol in atherosclerosis?
_Let me [start] by pointing out that 50% of people who have heart attacks were found to have low to normal cholesterol levels.
_Furthermore, it was found that abnormally low cholesterol levels INCREASED the risk of heart attacks!!! Why? Simple, one of the hormones produced from cholesterol are prostaglandins. One role of prostaglandins is to dilate blood vessels, primarily during injury to increase oxygen and nutrient delivery to the injured area to promote healing. Although, this does also lead to over dilation of blood vessels, that can cause them to leak fluids in to the surrounding tissues leading to pain and edema. How many of you have taken a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) for inflammatory pain? These include aspirin, ibuprofen (Advil, Motrin, Nuprin, etc), celecoxib (Celebrex), naproxen (Aleve), etc. In short, these drugs help reduce inflammation and edema by countering these prostaglandins so the blood vessels constrict thus reducing the porosity of the blood vessels and leakage. Although, this also leads to reduced circulation and thus inhibits the healing process. Worse yet though the reduction in prostaglandins can cut off the blood supply to organs, which is why NSAIDs are well known for inducing heart attacks, strokes, kidney and liver failure in some cases even with a single recommended dose. The reason I went in to this is because it correlates to why low cholesterol significantly increases the risk of heart attacks and strokes. Abnormally low cholesterol leads to abnormally low prostaglandin levels, which in turn increases the risk of heart attack and stroke through constriction of blood vessels.
_Low cholesterol has also been linked to dementia and depression. The later also due to lowered level of prostaglandins. Theoretically, low cholesterol levels could possibly increase the risk of peptic ulcers as well as the stomach’s protective mucus lining is prostaglandin dependent for production. This is why NSAIDs, such as aspirin, are so well known for inducing peptic ulcers. Without that protective mucus lining from prostaglandin inhibition, the stomach acid and pepsin combination digests a hole through the stomach wall.
_Is high cholesterol an issue of heredity, diet or something else?
_There is actually no proof that high cholesterol is hereditary. As with so many diseases that are considered hereditary, the researchers overlook other non-hereditary components that can lead to those diseases. For examples they overlook the viruses that cause cancer that are contagious and can be spread within families. And with type 2 diabetes they overlook the fact that family members often share the same dietary habits, which can deplete nutrients needed to keep insulin receptors open or that lead to increased body fat that can block insulin receptors.
_Diet plays very little role in cholesterol levels for a very simple reason. Most people eat a varied diet, which includes some plant materials that contain sterols that bind cholesterol preventing absorption of dietary cholesterol or reabsorption of bile cholesterol. And some cholesterol containing foods such as eggs also contain lecithin, which emulsifies cholesterol rendering it water soluble for easier removal from the body.
_There are actually only two real ways proven that a person can have high cholesterol.
_The main reason for high cholesterol is liver dysfunction. The liver is the body’s primary cholesterol regulator. The liver not only produces cholesterol when the body needs cholesterol, if the liver is working properly the liver breaks down excess cholesterol. Therefore, the primary reason for elevated cholesterol is liver dysfunction.
_It needs to be noted here that a lot of people think that if their ALT and AST levels come back normal on a lab test that this means their liver is functioning properly. This is not the case. ALT and AST, common called “liver enzymes”, do not determine function level of the liver. In fact, the term “liver enzymes” is rather misleading as these enzymes are not specific to the liver. These enzymes are released upon damage to various organs including the liver. Therefore, elevation of these enzymes does not prove liver damage either as is often assumed.
_The other main reason for elevated cholesterol is hypothyroidism as the thyroid regulated metabolism of cholesterol. And again, many people often assume that if their labs come back normal on TSH, T3 and T4 that they do not have hypothyroidism. This is not the case. Lab tests often miss cases of hypothyroidism for a couple of reasons, which I am not going to go in to right now because I have to get this finished up and go get some things done. The best way to determine if hypothyroidism is present is with basal body temperature readings for at least a week, which is significantly better in detecting hypothyroidism than lab tests, especially when combined with symptoms of hypothyroidism.
_What is the role of cholesterol in atherosclerosis?
_As mentioned before high cholesterol does not cause atherosclerosis. So, how does it form?
_In short, cholesterol is a healing agent. If you sliced your hand open, prostaglandins will dilate blood vessels to bring oxygen and other nutrients such as cholesterol to the area to aid in healing process by acting as a “patch” for the healing. Therefore, it is arterial inflammation that starts the process of atherosclerotic plaques. When the arterial lining is damaged, cholesterol floods the area to “patch” over the damaged area. This inflammation can come from a variety of sources such as high blood pressure, insulin damage, xanthine oxidase from cow’s milk, elevated homocysteine from hypothyroidism, etc. If the source of inflammation and thus the inflammation itself continues, the cholesterol continues to deposit leading to a plaque build up.
_How to lower cholesterol?
_There are various ways to get cholesterol down.
_One of my favorite ways is with digestive bitters and lecithin. I have seen various people drop their cholesterol 100 points in 6 months using this combo. Bitters are simply bitter tasting herbs. When they are put on the tongue and swallowed the bitter receptors on the back of the tongue are stimulated. This in turn stimulates the vagus nerve kicking up stomach acid, bile secretion and pancreatic enzymes. Thus, the name “digestive bitters”. Bitters also stimulate the liver as well helping it to function more efficiently, which is why they are also used to lower cholesterol and balance hormones. Do not use bitters though If you have had your gallbladder removed or have a peptic ulcer. Also make sure to drink plenty of water throughout the day when using bitters. Recommended dose is half a dropperful on the tongue 3 times daily before meals.
__COLD, FLU
The best herb for colds/flu is ___andrographis. I also like ___amla berry, which is a lot better rather than unstable camu camu.
- If housebound, you can bundle up in some blankets to raise your body temperature and sweat like crazy. Keep a lot of water on hand and drink it frequently so you do not get dehydrated.
- Sipping on ___ginger tea throughout the day can also help reduce the nausea and muscle aches.
- The ___silica and vitamin C will help with COPD.
- To get your white blood cell counts up I recommend ___suma, which also helps your cells to utilize oxygen properly and helps with hormone balance.
- Also avoid any nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, like ibuprofen, since these can damage the bone marrow inhibiting white blood cell production.

_A: Other symptoms I have include a burning or scraping pain in my small intestine, and near-constant constipation.
_JS: The scraping in the intestines can be a few things including diverticulitis or colitis.
_Constipation can have various causes, but one of these again is an excess of calcium and/or lack of ___magnesium.
_Other things that can contribute include dehydration, lack of dietary fiber, hypothyroidism, over use of stimulant laxatives and nerve damage.
_A lack of ___flora can also lead to constipation. In your case though you mentioned having an excess of acid forming bacteria.
___Nettle leaf or ___alfalfa herb are both great for buffering acids. I prefer the herb powder. I recommend a half teaspoon three times daily before meals. It is not toxic so you can always increase it if it helps but you need more of an effect. Alfalfa herb is also a good herb rich in alkaline minerals.
_I recommend 1g ___TMG three times daily. Generally it does not matter if it before or with meals, but in your case I would say before for a more rapid absorption.
___Juniper berries are very supporting to the pancreas, but they also drop blood sugar like crazy so you should have a little something in the stomach when using them. Here I would recommend less, such as a 1/4 teaspoon three times daily. The juniper berries also help with other areas of digestion.
__COPD
_Not all cases of COPD involve infection so the primary focus would be on increasing the elastin. Both collagen and elastin require vitamin C and silica for production. Although there are other nutrients involved it is the vitamin C and silica that tend to be deficient leading to loss of these structural proteins.
_Keep in mind that simply increasing vitamin C intake will not do much if the body's demand for vitamin C is increased due to things like caffeine, nicotine or other stimulant use, steroidal medications or chronic stress. The body can only utilize a certain amount of vitamin C at a time. If the amount of C required by the body exceeds the amount of vitamin C the body can absorb a deficiency can still occur regardless of how much vitamin C is taken.
_Contrary to what the doctors claim COPD can be reversed. It just takes time. You did not specify what form of COPD, but I am assuming either chronic emphysema or bronchitis. In both of these cases the alveoli in the lungs have lost elastin and thus their elasticity. Elastin is restored primarily by supplementing with silica and vitamin C, which are the primary deficiencies leading to collagen and elastin deficiency disorders.
_For silica though using the diatomaceous earth in water is the best way to get the silica. Bamboo is also a good source of silica if using capsules. Don't use horsetail grass (shavegrass) since it can constrict blood vessels impeding circulation.
_The NAC can help thin out the mucus as can supplementing with cayenne pepper. A diluted peroxide can be used in a nebulizer to help control infections and to break up mucus. I would not go any higher than a 1% solution though.
_When there is a respiratory infection here is an old post I did on how to treat respiratory infections:

Yes, ___slippery elm forms a slicky mucilage that helps to hydrate the feces and to help move the feces easier through the intestines. This is especially great for people who have hemorrhoids from straining during bowel movements since it makes the bowel movements so much easier.
_I also like the fact that slippery elm is not a stimulant laxative like senna, cascara sagrada, rhubarb root or the aloes since these can cause a laxative dependence after a few weeks of use.
_How to make it more "palatable"?
_With slippery elm and other mucilages such as ___marshmallow root I prefer to add some ___licorice root powder. Licorice root is 50 times sweeter than sugar and has many health properties such as being a steroidal anti-inflammatory, supporting the liver and kidneys, supporting the adrenals, being antiviral and immune enhancing (increases interferon), etc.
_You do not need very much if you are just going for flavor. And contrary to popular belief it does not taste like black licorice, which some people do not like the flavor of. Black licorice candy is generally flavored with star anise.
___Bitters help by increasing stomach acid and enzymes to promote digestion and reduce fermentation.
_Building up your ___flora should help reduce your gluten intolerance. Adrenal dysfunction also contributes to gluten intolerance.
_If you want to avoid the ___brans you can also use ___vegetable gums such a konjac (glucomannnan) or guar gum, which are very effective in stimulating flora growth. ___Fructooligodsaccharides (FOS) or ___Jerusalem artichoke are other good options.
_The constipation could be from thyroid dysfunction or lack of flora, which are common causes. [A process for production of fructo-oligosaccharides

__Vitamin D3 More Potent than Vitamin D2.
https://www.curezone.org/forums/fm.asp?i=1771128#i_Vitamin D is a fat-soluble vitamin that was isolated in 1930 and named calciferol. Since then more metabolites have been found, and the two major forms of this vitamin are now known to be vitamin D2 (ergocalciferol) and vitamin D3 (cholecalciferol). Vitamin D is actually a hormone precursor, which can be manufactured by the body. Therefore, in a classical sense, it is not actually an essential nutrient. However, since the disease rickets is related to vitamin D deficiency, it has been traditionally classified as a vitamin.
_Vitamin D is known as the “sunshine” vitamin. It is formed in the body by the action of the sun’s ultraviolet rays on the skin, converting the biological precursor 7-dehydroergosterol (found in animals and humans) into vitamin D3. Vitamin D3 is converted in the liver to 25-hydroxycholecalciferol (25-HCC) which is five times more active than vitamin D3. 25-HCC is then converted in the kidneys to 1,25-dihydroxycholecalciferol (1,25-HCC) which is 10 times more potent than vitamin D3. The active 1,25-HCC form of vitamin D is also called calcitrol. Since calcitrol is produced in the kidney and functions elsewhere in the body, it is considered a hormone, with the intestines and bone as its target.
_A study published in the Journal of Clinical Endocrinology and Metabolism sought to determine whether vitamins D2 and D3 are biologically equivalent. The single-blind, randomized study included 33 healthy adults who were supplemented with 50,000 IU of either vitamin D2 or D3 per week for a total of 12 weeks. The results revealed that after 12 weeks of supplementation, serum vitamin D levels increased significantly more in the D3 group than in the D2 group. The results were vitamin D3 was 56 to 87 percent more potent than D2 in raising serum vitamin D levels. It was also revealed that vitamin D3 produced a 2- to 3-fold increase in the storage of serum vitamin D, compared with vitamin D2. These findings suggest that vitamin D3 should be the preferred treatment for vitamin D deficiency due to its greater potency and lower cost.1
_1 Heaney RP, Recker RR, Grote J, et al. Vitamin D3 Is More Potent Than Vitamin D2 in Humans. J Clin Endocrinol Metab. Dec2010.
__Raising Vitamin D Levels
https://www.curezone.org/forums/fm.asp?i=1844302#i_As far as the dosage, in my opinion 5,000IU daily is excessive. Vitamin D stores in the liver so there is really no reason to megadose in the first place. Then there are safety concerns with such high levels of vitamin D. I recommend not exceeding 2,000IU daily. But still try to get as much of your vitamin D from either the sun or add full spectrum [UV] lamps around your house to help with vitamin D production.
_One final note is that vitamin D3 supplements are made from sheep lanolin, a common allergen.
__CRAMPS, MUSCLE
The most common cause of leg cramps is a lack of magnesium and/or too much calcium. Keep in mind that calcium is a muscle contractor and magnesium a muscle relaxant.
